Order out of chaos – B’reshit
In Sefer B’reshit, man noticed how organised and systematic the world around him is.
Originally there was tohu vavohu, chaos, darkness, wild winds. Then God imposed order and system and an inter-connected world resulted.
How did the initial chaos originate? God created it as a first stage in creation. He said: “This is an exemplar. When there is chaos, I impose order”. He told man, “When you see chaos, your task is to impose order!”
He worked for a week, creating one thing after another, from the simplest to the most complex organism. His aim was to reach a being who could be His agent and carry out His design. It needed to be someone with intellect, soul, ethics, capacity and conscience.
And thus, at the peak of Creation, man came into being.
