Stand before Pharaoh – Va’era
It must have been hard for Moses, “the meekest of men” (Num. 12:3), to confront the Egyptian king so boldly and take a stand without flinching.
In line with a Midrash which says that only when the Israelites had the nerve to sacrifice the lamb, the Egyptian sacred animal, would Israel deserve redemption, only when Moses had the courage to stand up to Pharaoh would he earn the leadership of the Exodus.
